To the mom of the 15th month old-
Politely tell your child's doctor your concern, and then ask when you can schedule a sweat test for your child so you can put your mind at ease. The sweat test is a non-evasive test and you can find the results within a day of the test. Most of the time those who have the sweat test do not have cf. Our clinic here in Houston tests about 7 kids a day and they have one positive test every month or two. So that is a lot of relieved parents who were concerned that their kids might have cf.

HI, my sister was diagnosed at age 12. I have 2 cousins who were both diagnosed at birth. When the second of the two was born they didn't want to test him right away, they said that newborns couldn't be tested. My aunt really had to throw a fit to get him tested. She didn't want to go through the dozen surgerys that she had to go through with her first in the first year.

i took my child to the doctors for 3 years with a constant cough or cold, they didnt have a clue ...........she was growin well and is tall
I never new anything about cf, i did notice her poos were greezy and said to the doctor he said just somthing she ate.
Also her nails had ridges down them i mentioned that a few times.....still he never clocked on! that is another sign of cf.
and also i did notices when i kissed her she was salty.but i didnt know about cf..........and the doctor was no good!

I was diagnosed at birth, because I had meconium illeus. Only about 10-15% of people with CF are pancreatic sufficeint (i.e. their pancreas produces enough enzymes for the intestines to digest foods.) But, those 10-15% have respiratory problems but not digestive problems. That is mostly determined by what mutation a person has.

R U NOT REALY PEED OFF THAT IT TOOK THEM SO LONG TO FIND OUT............I KNOW I WAS WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT MY DAUGHTER AT THE AGE OFF 3 AS I HAD HER AT THE DOCS LOADS OF TIMES
