hey there...
I actually wasn't given a glucose tolerance test until I went into clinic with sugars in the 500s. I had maybe two times before that when my sugars were on the high side, but they corrected themself shortly after. I would see if you could get the test soon just to see where you're at with cfrd. I know it REALLY sucks to have to take insulin...it's another thing to have to pay for, worry about, remember, etc. However, you have NO IDEA how much better you will feel after you start it. I hadn't realized just how unhealthy I was and how crappy I felt until after I had been on insulin for about a week. Then it was like I could climb Mt. Everest or something, lol. Plus, I don't mean to end this reply on a downer, BUT, if your doc is suggesting insulin now, you may as well start it because you'll probably end up needing it later anyway if you don't. Like I said, it is a total bummer to start another long term med like that...but you will notice a difference in just about everything you do.
Good luck and happy testing. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
