Hi Suni,

I tend to experience cold hands and especially cold feet sometimes normally, sometimes when exercising. When I do experience this without exercising, I'm usually not feeling so great. I can tell how well I'm feeling by the color of my toes. Pink= normal, purple = sick. Basically when I'm fighting an infection my appendages aren't the most important part of my body that needs oxygen, therefore I experience lack of blood flow to my feet and hands. (Sometimes my feet feel cold all the way up to mid calf!)

Sometimes when exercising the opposite happens to my feet. They get BRIGHT red and swell up. I was told that my body has a hard time pumping the blood back up once it reaches my feet because that's not what my body is focusing on when I exercise; it's focusing on making sure my lungs and brain get enough oxygen.

If it's a real concern I would take her in for an exercise test (or 6 minute walk) where they measure her oxygen levels as she increases exercise. I know my 02 stats drop well into the low 80's when I did my 6 minute walk and I know when I exercise full out they go even lower. It could be she may need supplemental oxygen when she exercises?
