I'm 5'4" tall and when I finally got approved for SSDI in 2005 my baseline FEV1 was about the exact qualifying level, 1.65 Liters. Sometimes it was a little better, 1.7 maybe and most times it was a little worse, 1.6 or so. At the time I was not on IVs at all. (just 3 times over the previous 5 years) but I was on inhaled antibiotics every other month. Beth Sufian helped me win my case. I was certainly a borderline case.

Since then my health has declined quite a bit, but I just wanted to say, I don't think I could have won my case when I did without Beth.

Thanks for the support everyone.

I did call SSA today and just went ahead and started the application process again (from scratch)... If I get denied, right away I'll call Beth Suffian. Does she help represent or what does she do for you? I pray this time it doesn't get to that. I'm going to fill out the online stuff tonight/tomorrow and my interview is June 24th. Its been about 8 years since my final denial so any things ya'll want to share about the process are welcome. I'm a bit nervous about having to track down various medical records, doc's and dates (since being in the military, we've lived in several towns), but I hope it isn't too terrible. Would deffinately be easier if I was still at the hospital I grew up with. LOL!

Anyway, thanks for listening to me rant. I just feel sometimes (almost ALL the time) the system isn't fair for us CFers and we have to fight so hard when we don't have the energy to fight for crap like this.

Anyway... thanks.... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Sonia, I think you are confused,

<b></end quote></div>Plus, just so you know I"m NOT referring to SSDI (that is based on income). I am only referring to Social Security Disability Benefits that you get from the federal govt when you can't work due to a disability... It is usually based on what you've paid into the system (I think) to determine your monthly payment. <div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote></b>

SSDI and "...social security disability benefits you get from the federal govt when you can't work due to a disability...it is usually based on what you've paid into the system..." are one in the same. I think you meant to put SSI instead of SSDI. Either way, the criteria for qualifying are the exact same for SSDI and SSI, so it really doesn't matter which program you are talking about when you are discussing meeting the criteria of impairment listings.

Are you still fighting for SSDI benefits? Do you need help, I'm happy to help.</end quote></div>

Thanks, Julie... You're so good to everyone on here. I'll let you know and if you have any pointers, send 'em my way! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

P.S. Here is the info. from the SSA site that I was referring to... <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.ssa.gov/d&s1.htm">http://www.ssa.gov/d&s1.htm</a> Sometimes I get a bit confused with the wording, but this is what I meant. I'm not applying for SSI AT ALL cause Ben makes too much.
