disinfecting wipes

Okay guys, I have a silly question. What is the diference between disinfecting and sanitizing? Or is there a difference? Is it better to use disinfecting wipes or sanitizing wipes, or are they the same thing?

Every time I go grocery shopping its the same thing, I can never choose between Lysol sanitizing wipes or Clorox disinfecting wipes. I wonder if one is better than the other?

I usually read the label to see what they KILL! Sani Cloths from Walmart list Pseudomonas A, staph... And some other bugs on their label. Got some PS wipes at Target that also had a whole list of bugs they'd kill. Of course the key is to make sure the surface stays wet for 10-15 minutes.

I usually buy the sani cloths when we travel for hotel rooms. I wipe down all bathroom surfaces, counters, remote (bleah), phone, tops of night stands, dressers, door knobs. Have threatened to take them along to clinic appointments.

I don't really use the wipes for disinfecting. Right now DS still uses a potty seat on the toilet, so I use them for quick wipe ups.

Thanks Liza

My lysol wipes only mention RSV and salmonella specifically. I guess I'll look around next time I go to Wal-mart for a better kind.

I use them often around the house for counter tops, phone, remote, toilet seat, and have brought them to clinic too. I also brought them to the hospital when Vinny was admitted, got lots of use out of them there.

I don't believe so because at the clinic they have sani cloths plus that look to be the same brand but made for clinics.

I think Clorox is okay. I use Lysol disinfecting wipes but I just read the label and it mentions RSV and salmonella. I think I saw one once that said on the label that it kills PA. I'm just going to compare the labels next trip to Walmart and see what I can find. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
