Getting the "special needs" pass is SO easy. We brought a note from our doctor (explaning his diagnosis and the need to stay out of crowded lines). I don't think they ever read the letter (but it doesn't hurt to have it). Simply walk up to Guest Services and tell them you "have a child with special needs and want to see if there is anything you can do for them". The agent takes it from there - never even asked a single question (except for how many days you are staying and how many are in your party). Easiest and best thing we did on our trip this past summer. It made everything wonderful (and it is good for ALL the disney parks for your whole visit). You don't feel rushed and can just worry about enjoying yourself. I was disappointed that the Universal Parks were not so helpful. They don't offer anything (unless you buy an overpriced express pass, and even then they only work once per CERTAIN rides).

We took our nephew to Disneyland in september and had the same amazing experience. We were lucky enough that there were not a lot of lines to have to use the pass that they gave us. The concerige at the hotel were also amazing. The had balloons sent to his room along with signed pictures of any Disney characters they found out that he loved.
