DO you do nebs routinely or only when sick?

Thanks for your reply! And I do agree with you to a certain extent. I do not want the treatments to stand in the way of Hayley being a kid and having fun, but I also don't want to shorten her lifespan by skipping treatments often. It's a fine line and for now she is so young and we have worked all of the recommended treatments into our schedule and plan accordingly around them. I won't say we have never missed/skipped a treatment, but so far it has only been two times in over a year and they were both so she could attend very special family events! Anyway, I totally understand what you are saying and appreciate the time you took to reply to me! I am sure as Hayley gets old things will change and I have no intentions of letting CF rule her life!! Thanks again!

Sharron,

Thanks for your reply! I agree with you, I think the Neb treatments and CPT are necessary to maintain good health and we will continue to do them! Thanks again!

Thanks Melissa! SO encouraging to see someone your age still doing well and having a healthy child! I only hope someday that my daughter will be able to have healthy children of her own!!

Someone "my age" sounds so funny. Usually its because I am the baby of the group. Here I am one of the oldtimers. I'll take that compliment. Thank you very much!

Good morning all. Just wanted to clarify, that I was not saying you should skip treatments as a practice, but that every once in a while skipping 1 of 4 (or even 1 of 3) treatments in a day is necessary to allow a child or family to enjoy an outing or celebration. We have never and would never skip a treatment while Maddie is sick. Anyway, just wanted to clarify...

Thanks

Greg,

I hope you did not think I was speaking directly to you! I certainly wasn't, nor did I mean to offend you in anyway! I certainly understand how hard it is to get in three breathing treatments per day with an 18 month old. IT'S HARD!!! A lot of times we don't get our full 15 minutes of CPT done after each treatment because Hayley just won't sit or lay still because she wants to play!! And I am sure that none of us would skip treatments while our children are sick!!! Sadly though, the nurses at my clinic have told me that a lot of parents don't do the treatments at all or very rarely!

Hope Maddie is doing well! By the way if you don't mind me asking how tall is she and how much does she weigh? Hayley goes for her clinic appointment on Wednesday and I was just curious since they are so close in age and both have CF. Hayley is a shorty and I would guess she weighs between 23-24 pounds.

Thanks!

No offense taken I just wanted to clarify that I was not suggesting to anyone that they should make a habbit of skipping treatments. Our DR was actually amazed that we actually do 4 a day as consistantly as we do. Just out of curiosity, how many different positions do you do for the CPT and how long at each? We originally were doing 2 min. at each position (10 positions), but the DR bumped up up to 3 min. after about 6 months and no change in the atelecatasis. I guess that did the trick.

Maddie is doing GREAT! Thanks for asking. At her ped. appointment last Thusday she weighed 26.3 lbs. and was 31.5 in. tall. We have a website for her if you are interested in taking a look www.maddietate.com We have not kept it updated like we should

thanks
Greg
