do you ever feel "good" with CF

Just a general question. I know you have good & bad days (weeks, months, etc). But do you think you ever feel good or do you always feel at least somewhat sick/bad?

Thanks

It's funny you should ask this question because I've wondered this about CF'ers. Since I am still fairly new to CF (diagnosed 3 years ago) it has been a learning process.

I seemingly have had more problems healthwise the past couple years...if it isn't one thing, it's another. So I would have to say that on most typical days I do not feel totally good. I either start having SOB, or abdominal painand/or nausea or my sinuses are stuffed up and hurting, or my joints hurt, or I just feel fatigued.

I'll be interested to hear other's feedback.

Ths odd thing about having cf a long time is you dont realize when you dont feel good. Since i always have a cough and a little stuffy nose, its hard to tell when i am not well, unless it is really bad. Whats really cool is....
when i realize one day that i feel super good, i just want to bottle it and keep it forever <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I agree completly. Sometimes I feel like a hypochondriac (sp). It's always something. Then when something new happens you never know if it's a CF symptom untill you talk to everyone else. I don't like to bug my CF doc all the time. Being new and all it feels like your constantly in contact with them as it is.

It depends on how you define feeling good. If you mean good for a CFer, then yes, I feel good often. If mean good for anyone (this being minus any coughing, running nose, diarrhea, etc etc), then nope.

I work out 5 days a week that consists of cardio for 1/2 hour and weight training for another 1/2 hour . I find this helps me feel good. I know I am starting to feel bad when my work outs are hard to do. By staying fit, yearly tune ups, getting alot of sleep, no full time job and eating well, I have been able to maintain and feel pretty good. It is funny though, I can feel really good, but when its bad it is soooooo bad. I thank God for letting me be able to get back to my borderline, even if it takes over a month when I am sick. I believe it is Gods Grace in letting me get sooooo sick, but then helping me get back to feeling 100%!! It takes sooooo much effort especially as you get older, I have noticed it takes over a month to get back to baseline. But, at least God lets me get there! Well I could go on and on.....

It's good to see ppl w/cf say they feel good sometimes.I've wondered this since my kids are to young to tell me how they feel. I on the other hand don't ever feel good. Don't really remember anytime I did. I have lots of health problems though always taking meds for this or that. Lately I've been sick so that makes things worse.

My daughter is only 8 years old and usually feels really good, she is so energetic and loves to swim and bike ride and run she also sees her dad lift weights and she will go out with him some times, she is really muscular!!! I pray that her energy level always stays sooo good!!! She is just now getting over pnuemonia and usually she is back to her baseline in 2 weeks, this time though it has been a little over a month. I also feel that it is the Lord that always brings her back to her baseline!!!

I would say I feel good most of the time, but when I feel bad,Really Bad! Sometimes I don't realize how good I do feel, until I look at my last tune-up!

I have never in my 27 years had one single good day. Despite my "good health," I have never once been able to take in a deep breath without coughing or gone more than three months without seeing a doctor. Its depressing.

I feel good most of the time. We spoke before that oddly enough the days when I feel great my PFT's suck!

I feel good sometimes, but I very much agree with Diane. I don't always realize when I am not feeling good. Last spring, I got something awful, my pft's dropped from 70 to 28 (they bounced back after meds thank God.) I knew I wasn't feeling great, but I never would have imagined my pft's were sooo low!

I used to feel good. About a year and a half ago...I started having lots of sinus probs, then kidney probs, then more digestive probs. My CF arthritis has become worse...it just seems like everything went downhill all at once. I honestly havent felt "good" since. My breathing has suffered as well. PFTs drop just a little each time I go. I hate it! When I was in high school and a young adult...I felt so great! Each day seems like a task just getting around to do the things I need to do! Im still working but trying for disability. I'll be 32 in July...it is not that easy anymore to be "normal". Im a wife and mom as well, which is my first priority . Ive kept excellent care of myself through all these years...being diagnosed as an infant ...Ive known all my life...so I knew to take care of myself. I believe that has kept me as well as I have been.

There are some good days some bad days. I used to tell myself "If its not one thing, its another" Either your stomach hurt from not taking enough Ultrase, or your coughing, or you cant breath right. I think though, the secret to feeling good all the time is to stay active and in shape.

I think that because I've felt REALLY bad a few times in the past, I compare every day to those times and think "hey, I feel great!". Even when I do have to deal with the daily crappy stuff, I think "well, at least I'm not so sick I can't sit up".
