So this is kind of OT to be in the adults section... but I figure if I let all this dust sit around it's going to turn into a lung topic eventually <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

I've been searching high and low for a non-clay dust free litter.

So far I've found online:
Paper - which supposedly makes a nice "urine slurry" and is gross and terrible
Corn - some people like, some don't. I read one review where the litter was infested with bugs which grossed me out and made me scared to buy it.
Wheat - same deal as corn
Pine - really strong pine smell and puts little shavings everywhere

Does anyone have any suggestions for what they use? I've had my kitty a week and I love her but I don't want her litter dust to doom me. <img src="i/expressions/coughing.gif" border="0"><img src="i/expressions/oxygen2.gif" border="0"> I wouldn't be stressing over this so much but I live in a studio apartment and her litter box is about... oh 5 feet away from my desk! Thanks guys.

I use Yesterday's News (which is actually a cat litter --- I just use it for the ferret). It's recycled newspaper. The smell is minimal, and it actually stays formed even when soaked in pee. A little softer, certainly, but it stays in the little pellet shape. Easy to clean.

I have 2 cats , had 'em for 18 years now. I use something called HartzPH or something like that. It is a clay litter but doesn not seem to create any dust. I use kitty liner bags and when i put the litter in i open the top of the bag and slowly lower it to the bottom of the litter box and let it sit there upside down for a few seconds. Then i lift the bag and voil'a no dust cloud....lol
I havent noticed any dust when they go in there either, but then again it is in the hallway and if there is any dust it isnt reaching very far. Maybe you can move the litter further away from where you are at? Another option for if you use clay litter is to mist it with a water bottle when you put it in the litter box to keep it from having any dust. I cant seem to come up with anything else. I cannot use the scented litters because they actually bother my lungs and sinus's. The pine ones are out of the question, they smell way too strong. This Hartz PH litter has been the best for me so far. I hope you find something good soon <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
