Doc telling not to look up cf sites

my friend was told by his doc not to be looking at cf sites and reading stuff up on them. i can't believe it. i'm in shock. i was on here just having a read and came accross a thread about co2 levels and it causing heahaches. my friend had been stuffing unexplainable headaches and the hospital hadn't a clue so i passed the thread onto him and the docs gave out when he showed them saying he shouldn't be looking up these sites and self diagnosing and reading up on things. he wasn't self diagnosing but if they pulled there finger out he(or I)wouldnt' have to. sorry just had to rant

Sounds like your friend needs a new doctor. These guys sound like ignorant imbeciles. They should never tell you not to read up stuff about YOUR OWN DISEASE. Ridiculous.

I love this forum..its a way for me to feel in control of my daughters CF. However, I find a lot of misinformation on this forum. I think it is highly important that anything you hear on the forum, you talk about with your doctor. All doctors are different, and you have to decide if you are going to trust your own doctor or someone else's you can't go back and forth. Of course trusting you have an accredited CF doctor you like. This forum is a way for me to feel I am not the only mother in the world with a child with CF. It is a place to vent or give support to others not a place to seek medical advice. I reccomend everyone else do the same.

i just happened to be browing through here and found the thread on co2 and it just sounded similar cos of his headaches and well the docs weren't doing much and didn't really know themselves and it was just a pure suggestion but they obviulsy didn't take kindly to it!!! oh well. but i didn't think there was any harm in giving my friend the link to the thread.

Oh, God forbid you be informed. I would ask for a damn good reason as to why not, like maybe we are all communist pigs or something. Whatever you do, don't take control of your own health!

hi im that friend she is on about. i was told by my docs not to be llooking at cf related sites due to misleading information and giving me false dianogsis. and makin there job harder.
