Sounds wonderful for desperate situations but of course not all lung recipients would need to have their own lungs removed and wait for donor lungs.

I saw this story going around on Facebook. I can't imagine how incredibly scary it was to be in that situation. If patients get to that point it's definitely a do or die moment. Might as well go for it!

That's amazing, I didn't even realize they had the ability to do that! I agree that must be a very scary situation for those whose condition gets that bad!
