Does anyone need a Thairapy vest machine?

Ok, i still have the original model Thairapy vest machine sitting in my room. Not sure of the hourly useage on it, but I was far from a daily user of the vest, usually only used it occasionally (maybe once a month) when I was real congested. I tried calling one of the main cf foundations to see if I could donate it, and they told me no for some stupid reason (probably that it's old tech). I called up the actual thairapy vest company and they told me I couldn't donate it through them or even send it back to them due to it being old tech also. I thought this was kind of stupid, seeing as how i'm pretty sure there has got to be atleast a couple CF's out there who don't have good insurance/any insurance at all and would love to have an older vest to help themselves or a child. The thing works fine, and is clean.

I was thinking maybe someone off here would have an idea, or might actually need it. I would of course sterilize it just as a precaution, and as long as someone else paid the shipping, id send the machine, vest, and the tubes/foot pedal to whoever wants it as long as it's to use for someone who needs, and not to make a surface to air missle or resell it on say EBAY.

If anyone needs it, or knows anyone who does, or knows of any group that would accept it via donation, please let me know. The only difference between it and the second to land most recent model is that it doesn't have a pressure knob/feature. BTW it's fully paid for, and I can vouch for how good it can knock the crap out of your lungs...It used to give me a real good cleaning.

Bad news: My current machine seemed to break tonight. So now I have to call them and either get the newest model that you can travel with (something I wanted anyways), or have someone come out to my house and fix my current one. I don't use the vest that often because the oregano oil + other oils and being active keeps me generally clear, but i've been kind of slothy recently, and got a little chunky. I have a OC chemical weapons and expandable baton class tomorrow for certifications, and I have to be sprayed in the face, so I used it tonight to make sure I was clear so I wouldnt be spewing mucous everywhere after I get sprayed.

Anyways, please reply if you or someone else needs it, or know of some group who would accept it. If it was a tax deductible donation, even better, but not necessary.

SeanDavis, does the person need to be about the same size as you in order to use this vest? I just found out last week that my daughter needs one but she is only five and very small....
That is so nice of you to offer that vest to someone...

I doubt a 5 year old would fit into it, because I was in my late teens I think when I was fitted for it. Back then they didn't have the "one size fits all" adjustable vest, but they actually came out and fitted you for it. I wasn't that big back then, but I doubt it's 5 year old size. The vest I used for it does have two adjustable straps, so it would more than likely fit any teenager sized person up. Alyssa (I guess thats her name off here, that is her name on yahoo messenger) already talked to me for it to possibly go to her teen daughter, so she has first dibs if she remains interested, unless someone of a more destitute/crappier situation speaks up (like the poor lady having the bad problems with her teeth, etc). I just think it's a waste to be sitting there and work fine. I have to go to bed now to do stuff early, but tomorrow when I get home I will start the ball rolling on more indepth information on the machine. If push comes to shove and the vest size is an issue, i'd bet the vest company would sell you one of their one size fits all vests pretty cheap (more so than spending 15,000 bucks on a complete system anyways). So I don't think the actual vest will be an issue one way or the other.

Deb, it would depend on the brand/model he has because you could always order a properly sized vest. There are at least 2 different companies, if you could find out what one and then call them and see how hard it woudl be to get a vest, just a vest. Or maybe a parent on this site has a child who has outgrown theirs and it is the same company...

There is a reason why they ask for the vests back & considering they will not take the vest back from someone for inability to pay, it seems fair. I worry that whoever takes it from you might not be able to get the service or assistance needed (parts, repair etc) if the are not the registered or recorded owners/users.....this is just something to at least find out about!

Hey Sean,

I don't need it, but my old CF pediatrician sends CF supplies to South America for patients there in need. Just in case you can't find anyone else who needs it. His name is Daniel V. Schidlow, and he's the chief of St. Christopher's Hosp for children's CF center in Philadelphia, PA. He rocks!

Well yeah i'd agree if said person had their own good medical insurance and they could just get their own vest. I offered this up thinking of those out there who might be destitute/have no insurance/their insurance won't get them their own. It's one of those "I need one, but I can't get one myself for (fill in the blank) reason(s), and this is better than nothing" situations. I could always just take it outside and unload several hundred rounds of ammo into it for laughs and target practice, but I felt there might be atleast one person who might need one, and not have the ability to acquire one themselves via the normal channels.

Tooshay (I have no idea how to spell that so I sounded it out -- LOL) I appreciate your thought & concern from the heart, SeanDavis!

I think it's "Touche". Spelled like Douche, but accent on the E.

Hey Sean,

It's Alyssa -- yes I am the same one from here and the instant message last night. I think I will "un - dibbs" myself from first interested party on this machine... thanks for your time -- my daughter is very concerned about not having the variable adjustment for pressure (she is pretty sensitive) and we are both concerned about the size of the machine -- and like you said... we are not in a terribly "needy" situation at the moment. So hopefully there is someone out there that this machine can make a difference for.

Did you get that link I sent you with a picture of a model 102? Is that it? Just curious.

Thanks again

It's down near the bottom of this page -- check it out -- if this is it then everyone can see what it looks like too -- also it says the weight of the machine is 125 pounds!

You don't have to pay me anything for it, just take care of shipping. My fiancee and sister are tearing up the room now to put in new cabinets, and i'm still beaten up from yesterday. So i'll get on the machine tomorrow.
