Hi,

does anyone here still take one of this things? If yes, dou you think it really helps? If yes, how?
Its hard to get these in Germany, now I found somebody in Britain, who is also shipping to Germany, but I´m not shure if it really helps or if I would just waste my money....

Thanks

Hi. I still take glutathione. I take the inhaled version...400mg twice a day. Yes I do think it has really helped me. I haven't had the total disspearment of symptoms like some but my infections have been reduced and when I get one recovery time is reduced. Plus no more mucus plug problems

glutathione is one thing I haven't tried, but I've read up on the principle behind it. Is it now officially being perscribed in the U.S.? Last I saw on the official cf research products pipeline page, it was a notch or two below availability. Obviously it's somehow available somewhere because you are nebbing it, so lemme know if I should hit up the doc next time in Florida when I go for some.

I have been using oral glutathione for almost 3 years now and i still notice the positive changes it has brought about.I still have the energy it initially brought back to me when i first started taking it, and i get sick less often. I just generally feel better since i first started using it. I get mine online thru a company called IHERB.COM . I take 1500 mg. per day sometimes more if i am not feeling well. Glutathione has made the MOST difference for me of all the homepathic things i've tried. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

i was in the official cf curcumin trial for cf, and i can tell you it is no miracle drug. They had me on 9 pills a day 500mg ea. and it did do something though. Mainly I could tell my joints were not as achey and sore. That's really all i can say it did--nothing for the lungs, but the stuff's not expensive, so get some and try it. See if you like the benifits enough to take a higher dose. I take a couple a day now. they thought the research would show that this herb has an effect on the cftr transport, but there is no evidence of it. Also they don't know which components of the curcumin are beneficial. I will say try it for yourself you might be glad you did

I take it for preventative measures, both of them. I'm on like 3 500mg pills of curcumin, 3 500 mg of gsh oral and two 200 mg inhaled gsh with my hypertonic saline and the oregano oil. I dunno, i think it's a great combination...and it can't help. Not sure about the numbers, dbut i feel pretty good. Where do you get the 400 mg inhaled? Or do you just mix two 200 mg...intrigueded.... hehhe

peace,

We use oral and inhaled glutathione for my son twice a day. We use the capsules from Theranaturals - GSH plus bicarbonate (buffered) for inhalation and plain GSH for oral. It is not advisable to inhaled non-buffered GSH because of bronchoconstriction.

The standard dosage amount is 30 mg/lb/day divided into 3 - 4 doses. We calcuate the total daily dosage and divide by 4 with two doses of inhaled and 2 doses of oral.

GSH has completely rid my son of a cough and he never sounds junky. Since starting GSH his weight has increased and his liver enzymes are in the normal range.

GSH is contraindicated in anyone culturing b cepacia, having advanced lung disease, or who is waiting for a transplant. Although I have heard of individuals in all of the above situations that use GSH and have no problems.

Hi, I've been taking curcumin pills (3 - 500mg capsules a day). I don't know how it has affected my lungs, but my digestion problems have since been non-existant. I barely take any enzymes with meals anymore. Just 1 or 2 with a big or fatty meal. So I think that is a great thing in itself! I also find it very easy to gain weight now. I've never had a problem with my weight, but enjoyed the fact that I could eat a block of cheese in one sitting and not gain an ounce!! Now I think I would be labelled "obese" in the CF world!! I'm actually considering going on a diet before my wedding. Isn't that disgusting!! Seriously though - I think curcumin is great. I feel like I've won half the battle. Now if only there was some sort of cure for the lung problems!

Daughter has been taking Curcumin (1500mg day- 2 (500mg) in a.m. & 1 p.m.). She has little to no GI effects from her CF anymore. She was pancreatic insufficient prior to use and using Creon - now she is no longer using enzymes and is gaining weight. She no longer has GI upset (bloating/gas/abdominal pains/etc) - so it has definite positive effects related to GI issues.

Hey there,

I take glut and Nac with a Vit D pill to help me absorb it all. Nac is just a building block for the glut. I can definately say I feel better, mostly more resistant to colds and infections.
I do have Cepacia, so I'm not officially reccomending anything, but I've not experienced any bad effects. I also get my supplements from theranaturals, they are reputable.

My 5 year old takes turmeric capsules - 2 x 500mg day and it has really helped with her digestion and creon requirements. She weighs over 16 kg and when not on antibiotics she takes about 6 - 9 creon a day. When we stopped the turmeric for a while (we were on holiday) her steattoreah came back really badly on the same creon level. Am really interested to hear that others have had similar findings.
