I mix it with 2 cc saline, yes. Although I'm not saying the coughing is really a problem, cause its helping clear out my lungs and isn't that crummy scratchy SOB cough I think most have when on either TOBI (I sure did!) or colistyn. This is a productive cough.

Why would your insurance NOT cover colistyn? Its actually cheaper than TOBI. I would think most insurances would LOVE that.

I can't do Colistin. It makes me short of breath, which is why I'm on TOBI. I have no problems with TOBI.

My insurance won't cover it because it is expensive and its "experimental." The evidence for its efficacy isn't as strong as say Tobi. That doesn't do me much good though, because now there is pretty much nothing that I can inhale in terms of antibiotics. Gentamicin doesn't work very well for me.

When I was put on it a few years ago when I couldn't do TOBI, my docs said it is a very old medication that they used years before TOBI came out.
