It sounds like she probably needs the enzymes and they might even help with the chronic constipation. Thanks so much for responding. I will probably have lots more questions once she can start them. The cf specialist wanted to give her colon a lot of time to heal before starting the enzymes.

If you take more than you need, yes it can cause constipation. If you need them and don't take them it can too, because the stool is very huge and bulky. You can wind up with a blockage. If she's not already, get her on Miralax. It is not habit forming, it's only a simple sugar that helps the bm slide through the bowels. And it doesn't cause cramping or anything like a stimulant does.

YES!!!! Unless you daughter has a fecal test, they do not actually know if she is pancres sufficient or not. There is an assumption across the board that delta 508 has no pancrease function, but at least two people in their 20's with years of disgestive and gut pain were later found out to not need enzymes. She has to be specifically tested to see if she actually needs the enzymes or not. If you don't get this test, she could be ping-ponged between enzymes and bowel clean-outs for years.
