Does Weather matter?

I am posting this in here, even though I am not an adult with CF, because I figure adults who have CF would know more then the parents of children (as I have two CF girls).. probably came out wrong but I am sure you know what I mean dealing with CF for a long time.

Just curious if hot weather is better for CF? We are in Ontario Canada where the weather changes are pretty extreme at times and I have noticed when winter was coming and going Alysa was having a heck of a time with colds..

Would she better off in a place that has more of a warmer climate year round?

Probably not making sense, sorry. Maybe I am just looking for a reason to move to Hawaii or Australia or something lol.

I think weather has a huge impact on my health. I live in so. cal. and when the dry weather comes thru I feel clear and good. But, when the moisture comes on thru I feel junkie in the lungs. But, I also get the asthma aspect with my lungs; even so, you get weather no matter where you live. I think it depends on each individual.

We're in Minnesota. Sure, colds in the winter are miserable - but you can get those anywhere.

Due to a lack of nasty crud going around, and the ability to get more exercise in the summer, J's PFTs are better in the summer.

However - heat takes a serious toll on him. He has to drink a TON to stay hydrated (and it has to have salt, because he loses so much during activity). Dehydration can take him down really fast. Dehydration also leads to thick nasty mucus.

I shudder to think about how much worse it would be in a warmer climate.

We're in eastern North Dakota and the winters are colder and depending upon whether it's a drought year or not, summer can be hot and dry or humid...

DS loves playing outside. His preschool has them outdoors winter and summer. Summertime we slather on the sunblock before he goes to daycare and they do the same to all the kids before they go out. They also make sure he gets enough to drink and provide salty snacks for him.

He tells us that he likes the cold. Gets upset when the snow starts to melt. They go for walks, go sledding, play in the snow...

DS still gets colds, tends to happen more when the temps are subzero and the kids get cooped up inside, spreading their germs and happiness. <img src="">
