Emily does now, but it's been better since she's been on inhaled steroids; she hasn't needed oral prednisone for about 9mo now since being on them. When she's gotten like this it doesn't always mean things are 'worse' from a standpoint of needing abx vs. other times- she generally recovers faster now from things now that we are appropriately treating the inflammation w/ asthma medications.

However, no matter what kind of congestion or sickness it is (early cough or viral symptoms, bacterial infection, whatever) we do the extra vest treatments. That will help any of it.

Thank you for your replies. I do think Maggie needs more rest and fluids. She does not seem wheezy this morning, she does have a cough this morning. I am upping her VEST time. Today is a snow day from school which is great for her for the extra rest, I was planning on keeping her home anyway. Maggie said her breathing does feel better than yesterday. I'm not sure if Maggie has asthma but she does have inflammatory issues with her CF. I will keep an eye on her and call if it starts up again, which is likely. Unfortunately, I am working Fri, Sat and Sun...I hate when I'm not around and her Cf starts acting up.

Luke wheezes with colds and so do my three children who have asthma. It is really the only time any of them do sound wheezy. We usually just up nebs. and vest. Occassionally he will need the prednisone, but he generally does not need antibiotics unless he develops an ear infection with the cold.
