does your insurance pay for vitamin level checks

So, my insurance company is not covering my vitamin level checks. It is over $600 that I do not have. In addition, because my vitamin levels were really low last visit, my doc wants to run them again my next visit. Any suggestions to how to get my insurance company to cover these? Or is this pretty much never covered?

What?! Mine have always been covered. I've never heard of them not being. Sorry you have to deal with this. Thats totally unfair. If your dr orders it-it should be covered, period.

Emily's are covered without question. It is ordered as a cf-specific 'annual panel' including all the vitamin levels and other values that they need. We do have to be sure we go to a lab that they work with (we had trouble getting another set of labs paid for due to being mistaken about this), but otherwise we have never had trouble getting coverage for her labs.

Yes they are covered. Perhaps because you are in Alaska more people get their vitamins checked so they decline the test but in your case it should be covered. Was it ordered your cf doc? Was your diagnosis code 277.0 included? I'd get your center cracking on getting it covered for you. Don't stress it and DEFINITELY don't pay it out of pocket.
