Doxycycline?

I've taken Doxycycline for years and its a good one. I dont believe i have ever had any side effects from it, except for my acne clearing up which was a welcome effect. Doxycycline can make you sensitive to the sun as Tom mentioned, so be careful in the sun and make sure to wear sunscreen if you dont already.

Thanks you guys! I have heard about the sun exposure so I plan to be super careful! We are traveling back to Illinois (road trip!) so I will probably be in the car most of the time I am on it.
As far as my reactions-to Sulfa my lips/fingers swelled up and I had hives all over (in my throat and nose as well) and had raised 6-12" welts all over as well. The augmentin was a year ago and my face swelled and turned red (even the whites of my eyes were red), my blood pressure dropped, I felt like I was going to pass out-but I threw up the meds (this all happened 10 minutes after taking it). I do now have an epi-pen because of that reaction.
I am in Seattle for work but am looking forward to heading home tomorrow night and starting the docycycline on Friday morning - I don't want to start over here because of my allergic reactions, etc - I would rather be safe at home and we live about 1 minute away from the hospital.

Also-how long are you guys on it? He put me on it for 2 weeks and longer if needed.

Thanks for all of the input!

I have taken it with no problems other than really sensitive to sun and wind. Otherwise it was fine at 100mg per day and I am sensitive and allergic to a ton of stuff.

Good Luck and Feel better!

I don't know if I ever had it. Don't remember I ever had an allergy to antibiotics.

My sister (non CF) has had Doxy to treat bronchitis and it turned out she is allergic to it, had to stop right away and will never get it again.
