Do bring a note book. You want as much information as you can get. Ask about what to do incase of an emergency. Contact numbers etc. Also, if he having GI problems will in be treated in the clinic or followed in another department? My daughter is followed in Gi and in the CF clinic. Also, is followed in 7 other drpartments. Lucky for her she is seen at Chidlren's Hospital Boston. Everything is in a computer for all the dr's. Ask about preventive measures. We found that doing the preventive stuff helps keep her lungs happy. Her GI is another story.
I know my daughters inside like the back of my hand. It will become second nature. It's ok to be scared. Your emtions will run high. Do cry, it helps. You will be surprised at how well kids bounce. My daughter has ADHD and she wears a back brace. Her growth plates don't want to close. She is 15. They think she is 13. I don't let the doctors sugar coat anything. I want the answers to be straight forward. For me it is easier to deal with illness. You will bond with the doctors taking care of your son. Don't ever be afraid to ask questions. The more you ask the more you understand. I wish you well for your son.
