Draining Fluid from the Lung

I has fluid drained from my lungs last year. I was really worried about it because it sounds so scary. The dr. did the procedure in my hospital room while my husband held my hand. It was so easy and painfree. They numb the area and you really cannot feel anything! So don't worry you will be fine.

By the way, my name is Lisa and I just joined today!
Good luck!

I had a hemothorax three days after lung surgery a few years ago. Had awful pain in my side for a couple days then passed out. Anyway, basically they had to drain blood from between the lungs and the rib cage. They did it with the guidance of CT scan, they knew right where to insert the needle and drain out the blood, it was painless, they numbed the area before inserting the needle, it was scarry but it went well. I got to see the drain off blood in the bottle it collected in that was cool. I of course needed a transfusion as I lost so much blood. But yours being fluid won't required that of course. You will be fine, it really was painless.
