Thank you guys so much for responding! I have hear that the brightness can disappear from the bowel in u/s before birth and they assume it has resolved. Thanks to your story I am going to be adamant that it is investigsted if I DON'T see meconium poop! We have another level II scheduled for the 26th, so we will see what happens then. I know it seems silly but I am kind of worried that I will deliver early & be forced to have a c-section. Obviously I want what is best for this baby, but I have to greive for the ideal before accepting the real right?

I did read that the earlier the echogenic bowel is discovered the more of a marker it is, but i will have to check my facts on that vs. MI. I have a lot more research to do ..

Thanks again for the support!

Just wanted to let you know that my daughter had an echogenic bowel on several ultrasounds and we delivered at a hospital with a high level NICU. There was a whole team of docs there waiting to whisk her away into surgery - and she did not have the bowel obstruction! I was worried sick for nothing. And I had made myself sick trying to scour the internet for an answer - there just isn't one. It is just a good idea to keep having ultrasounds to keep an eye on it and deliver where MI can be handled if it does happen. I wish there were a crystal ball or even an article out there that gave percentages on this, but there just are not. It does not change it anyway, right?

Good luck and I know you are worried. Just know that what happens happens and the best thing you can do is HOPE for the best, PREPARE for the worst.

Hi Katie!
Welcome. I hope it isn't cf in your little one. I just wanted to tell you that you should also post this under Family. You'll get more responses from people that have been in a similiar circumstance. The pregnancy section is mostly used by people with cf persuing pregnancy.

Katie,

Don't worry too much about delivering early. I'm not really aware of a higher incidence of early delivery among CF moms. My little guy was basically term at 37 weeks when delivered via emergency c-section, but he was on the small side 5lb 6oz. due to my pregnancy complications- not CF.

I cannot tell you how much I understand grieving the ideal- accepting the real. Be glad you can grieve now for it before the baby comes. I was an absolute wreck the week that Zeke was born. It was a million nightmares colliding at once because I didn't know ahead of time what was wrong with him,and I was thinking I'd get my perfect baby bliss at home after a couple days in the hospital. Here I was, confronted with his mortality within the first few days of life.

I pray all goes well for you.
