economic stimulus payments

I got a notice in the mail yesterday about the onetime payment that will go out in May. Extra money is always a good thing and I realize some people really need this help from the government right now. We are doing ok and feel we don't need this help. This morning we decided to donate whatever the govt gives us(I think it will be $1200) to the CFF.

My husband thought of taking it one step further and thought maybe we could somehow add this to our Great Strides Fundraising pitch. So I've been mulling this over in my head and think it may be a good tactic.

What do you all think?

I commend you for your generosity. I do want to make sure that you know that what is being referred to as an economic stimulus package is more like a payday loan. This is money you would normally receive as part of your tax refund in 2009. That money will not be there for you at that time should you choose to donate it now or if you normally don't get a refund, you may owe. Just thought you should know.
