Ok, am I totally off track here - I thought the e-flow was specifically designed for Tobi use???? Why are people saying not to use it for Tobi? I'm way confused.
In order for certain meds to be most effective, they need to be delivered to the lungs in a particular way/given amount of time.
I thought the e-flow was that device FOR Tobi's proper delivery???
Our clinic approves of it's use for Tobi, but I've heard from someone else that their clinic says NO.
As for cleaning:
Yes, It was a little overwhelming to get used to cleaning it, but not any more. You can boil it like your other nebs, MINUS the metal piece.
I got mine from Foundation Care also. My clinic said something to the effect of: "it's normally $1,500, but if you get your Tobi from them, they will supply the e-flow at no charge" I don't know if that has anything to due with my insurance coverage or not. Maybe Amy can clarify?
BTW, I'm one of the people that uses it for all my meds (xopenex, pulmozyme, hts, tobi). I timed it yesterday.
Xopenexx = 7 minutes,
Pulmo = 5 minutes
Tobi = 7 minutes.
HTS = I can't determine because I stop so much to cough.
