Eflow

so the neb cub that you use for the cayston is the same neb cup you use for the rest? There isn't a different kind of neb cup for the machine?

So if I have an extra altera cup and I just use my meds in it and use the eflow???

Is there a way to clean it that prevents the clogging? Like if I washed and sterlized it after every use (3 times a day) and rinses really well in between meds?? Would that help?

The difference between the Altera and the Trio IS the neb cup. You can only use the Altera neb cup with Cayston. All others meds must be used in the Trio. This is because the Altera is specifically optimized for cayston particle sizes and the Trio is a "general purpose" device, not optimized for any. You'll risk clogging the Altera head REALLY quickly if you put other meds in it.

As for what meds are approved for Trio, it's only Colistin and Tobi. All others, albuterol, HTS, and pulmozyme, are considered "off label" use and not officially approved for use, but there is nothing saying you can't use them.

Hope this helps!

I am getting Cayston and the E-flow for the first time. The woman on the phone told me that I can only use Cayston in the E-flow. Yet, some of you are saying you use albuterol in it. I assume you use a different neb cup/hose?

I was told you can not put TOBI in the TRIO have to get reformulated Tobra so previous poster please check it out. I use the TRIO for Albuterol and reformulate Tobra and Colistin. Pulmo and HTS is the Pari LC Plus cause those drugs were just clogging my metal head to quickly and it defeated the purpose of using the TRIO in regards to time spent nebulizing. Otherwise, I like the TRIO and you can not beat the peace and quite! My TV volume likes it too ha ha!
