eFlow

My doc just sent the paperwork for the eFlow to my insurance company. I should be getting one soon! Most of my questions about it were answered, but here's a few I'm not sure of...

1) How are you supposed to clean it? I know there's a filter that has to be cleaned after each use (from what I was told), but how? Boiling, along with the mouth piece? I have no idea. Forgot to ask.

2) Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how much these little gadgets cost?

Thanks!

I'm in the process of getting one of these puppies myself, hopefully our local CF organisation is going to fund or at least help fund one for me, as they are blardy expensive!!
Over here they cost NZD$1500, plus about $400 in maintenance each year. So that would be approx USD$1200 converted and about USD$280 per yr in maintenance.

Wow, really?! I saw a picture of the thing, and it doesn't look like it should be anywhere near that expensive! Then again, we're talking about the medical field...*sigh* Thank god for insurance!

Thanks for the info, Kat!

The ticket price for ours was $2700. We have had it for about a year and a half and love it.

We initially had a very hard time keeping clean, but after MUCH trial and error we finally have a process that works well. If you have trouble keeping the times down on the eflow pm and I will explain in detail what we do.

Good luck to you!

Have you read Amy's blog on the eflow? That is what got me to pursue one for myself. I have had it for almost a month and I love it. I do not love cleaning it after every session but I do believe it is worth the trouble. Before, after a soapy rinse, I would let my nebs pile up and clean after 3 days. Now with the eflow I have to make time to do it after each session but I have gotten into the groove of doing it.

I got mine for free from Foundation Care because I get my Tobi formulated through them. And as an extra bonus because I get the tobi through them they also give me free 7% Hypertonic Saline in sterile individual vials (saves me $36 a month).

If you have specific questions after reading Amy's blog just ask.[

Just thought I'd add... I just got my eFlow today. I'm way still learning it. But we can bounce questions off of each other, I think, if you get one.

Oh and I'm with Jem. I got the eFlow itself free from Foundation Care, after we ordered the Colistin from them. I also got free vitamins (ABDEKs, no more gross banana ADEKs!!!) with the order. And saline came too!!! I feel spoiled.
