Is everyone leasing the eFLow? If not, where did you buy yours and how did you pay for it (cash, insurance, etc.)? (Because my husband was told that we can only lease it while using Colistin and no other drug).
</end quote></div>
I opted to lease because my insurance was taking a long time. Insurance was covering but they were taking forever to pay and I needed the eFlow for my trip overseas.
Foundation Care will lease with any antibiotic - colistin and tobramycin included. Ask IV solutions about tobramycin if your DH is not on colistin.
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote> The person at IV solutions also told him that he could ONLY use colistin in the eFlow and nothing else because colistin was the only "doctor approved" medicine to be used in the eFLow device. I know that others on this site use the eFlow for other meds though. </end quote></div>
Tell them to go to the German PARI website (www.pari.de), or the Foundation Care website (www.foundcare.com) or my blog.
All contain the same studies showing efficacy of Tobramycin, Colistin, Albuterol and Pulmozyme in the eFlow vs. traditional compressor.
That's as close to doctor approved as these meds will ever get.
Once a new devices comes to market, they are not required to test existing medications that are on the market. So PARI did their own in vivo and in vitro studies and published them.
They're solid studies. (for those of you who complain about them being PARI funded, guess what? That TOBI you take? That FDA approval study was Chiron funded. That pulmozyme you take? That FDA approval study was Genentech study. Everything is funded by the manufacturer because studies are so expensive, the only people who can reap the ROI (return on Investment) are the manufacturers)
Show your doc and IV solutions those studies. And then go ahead and put your HTS, Pulmozyme, and albteruol as well into the eFlow.
If you want instructions on how to clean the sucker, and what all the parts are, check out my eFlow blog <img src="">
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Also is there a part that needs to be replaced regularly on the eFlow? If so, how often do you have to replace with the number of meds you do. </end quote></div>
Yes, the "head" is replaced every 3 months for free by those of us who are leasing. If you want to see what the "head" looks like, go to my blog, scroll down to the left hand side to categories and then click "eFlow".
It's a great device that can sometimes take a while to finally get a hold of. But once you get it, man is it worth all the time you invested to get the darn thing! <img src="">
