Elevated IGE Levels

I had allergy testing as a kid and it was inconclusive.... only some indication of grass allergies.
I am at National Jewish so I am in good hands. I was wondering about aspergillus... fooey. I just had a sputum culture but haven't heard back from that. I have been having some shortness of breath and exercise intolerance (asthma related symptoms).
I have a horrible abscessed sinus so maybe all the problems are up there. Will probably have surgery on my sinuses after the first of the year. What every it is hopefully we can start treating it soon.

Often ABPA will behave quite like asthma, with the exertional dyspnea and all that, wheezing sometimes too. Elevated IgE along with an apsergillus specific RAST are considered enough to go with a Dx of ABPA. Unfortunately, the standard treatment is high dose corticosteroids. There is a newer drug out that is a lot more tolerable called Xolair. I would definitely inquire about it before you settle for corticosteroids.
