Enzyme Change...not really working

It a long story, but in summary, the FDA told the pancreatic enzyme manufactures that they had to meet new, stricter standers to be Rx quality, & thus approved by insurance. Slowly but surely they are complying, & coming back on the prescription market. Check with your pharmacist or drug insurance co. if any new ones have been approved by the FDA & by your insurance co.

There's a specific mathematics/weight formula for how much pancreatic enzyme to take. You CF dietician should be able to calculate it out, or if you read the detailed insert that comes with the enzyme, it will give you the math formula, then you can calculate it yourself.

I tried Creon 1st, then after about 6 months switched to Zenpep. Now I take one Creon & 5 Zenpep per meal, & am on a high protein, low carb (40-60gms/meal), low fat, low sugar, & low salt diet. Hope this helps.
