yep, we have been on prevacid since 3months old....it definatley helps with the enzyme issue, especially if you are at the max dosage for weight.

i gained quite a bit of weight when i started on a PPI. it's definitely true....

controlling acid also helps with nocturnal aspiration of gastric juice which can really do a number on the lungs.

take care.

Emily was on prevacid or some form of it for quite a while. The first year seemed like one big experiment to figure out how much enzyme she needed, which antacid worked best, how and when to give teh antacid...and as soon as we'd get it figured out, it would all change a week or two later. After she turned one and started walking, things really fell into place for us, at least as far as enzymes/antacids go. She hasn't had an antacid since then, and I don't think we've changed brands or dosage of enzyme since she was about 18 months.

I hope you can quickly find what works for your little cutie!

Our oldest who is 9 started out on Zantac then after about 3 years they changed him to Prilosec then about a year ago they changed him to Prevacid. I think sometimes they just have to change the brands of the enzymes and antiacid med until they get the correct combination. I am not sure if the body just get used to that med after a while or what. I know that the less acid the less belly aches and tushy problems they have. It also makes the poo less greasy which helps with weight gain.
