Enzymes of choice...

I am a 36 yr old female with CF (diagnosed at the age of 3). I have lived in BC for almost all my life. While living there I was taking enzymes called: ULTRASE MT12 AND ULTRASE, and they seemed to be doing thier job. About a year ago I moved to Ontario and they don't have any ULTRASE out here. I am now taking 2 different kinds of CREON and so is my brother ( he has CF too) and we both don't like the CREON....they don't work as good as the ULTRASE did. Has anyone else had this situation? And according to the CF docs in Ontario they can't (or won't) get the ULTRASE.

I also have another question....is anyone else having bloating problems....24/7 and being constipated every now and then more on then off...if so what have you done/tried and what worked. I have noticed too that with the new enzymes I am eating more?????

Ok ok ok...one more question...I am taking birth control called:MARVELON, it's been almost a yr now. My concern is this....the day b4 my period statrs and right up until it's gone I break out in hot and cold sweats....kinda like Menopause symptoms....has anyone else experienced this too????

i think you are right to doubt those other brands of enzymes, they really just don't work. For a few years when i was still in grade school they had taken me off the name brand (ultrase) and given me some crap that would cause terrible gas, but i was to young to really pay attention to the pills they stuffed down me. But definatly some do work and others don't...........So they refuse to pay for them or order them???

They (CF Clinic) out here in Ontario told me that the ULTRASE was not available out here cause they don't use it. Maybe it's cause they don't want to pay for them to get shipped out here...I dunno that's all I was told..."NOT AVAILABLE"
Hmmmmmmm....maybe I shall look into it more....I'll call the CF Clinic in BC and see what they say!

Funny, I had to switch from Creon to Ultrase and had similar problems. I've since gone back on Creon and been fine. Maybe the switching itself causes these problems.
