In the simpliest answer that I was given about enzymes 14 years ago was:
1. If the drink or food item has no fat in it, you don't really need enzymes.
IE: Tea, Kool-Aide, Pop, Water, and juice.
but if it has any fat you do.
IE: milk, anything containing cream, shakes, and so on
2. Same for snacks, no fat, no enzymes.
So plain popsicles don't
IF you give enzyemes for something and they don't eat it or it didn't have fat, no problem, it won't hurt them.
I even use to worry because I had enzymes everywhere, in my purse, diaper bag, glove compartment, end table, kitchen table, every where. The docs told me not to worry, where they would not want another child to take them, if they did take some, or even the whole bottle, there wouldn't be any horrible thing happen like if they took a whole bottle of say tylenol or something. It would not be a good thing, but nothing like most other drugs. His point was that if one of the other kids or a friends kid found them and took one or two, no problem, no need to worry. If they did take the whole bottle, which he doubted any of them would, call the office, but probably would just need to see them to make sure there wasn't a problem, no need to panic. Then he told me the story of one of his teens that they switched his enzymes on and he had a ton of the old ones left. So, he took them to school and told everyone how good they would make them feel and sold them to them for a nice profit. He said he had to act all mad at him and support his parents in how bad it was, but then he went to his office and had a goood laugh about it because he knew it did not do any harm whatsoever. Now a days though, it would probably be a bigger deal then what that kid, an adult now, had to deal with if he got caught.
