Enzymes ...

I'm wondering what people's experiences have been with not taking
their enzymes.  What symptoms occur?  What foods are
particularly bad?  Before I was diagnosed, the doctors had
taken me off of milk products, so I'm guessing that's a big
trigger, but I'm wondering about other peoples experiences.<br>

Well, I don't really take them anymore. I stopped about 5 years
ago. I might take 1with a fatty meal every few days (as opposed to
5 with every meal as I was growing up), but I don't seem to have
the problems most people say they have without them. Most people
have told me they "regret it the next day" and I was
confused as to what they were talking about until recently when
someone explained. I was like.." yeah..that doesn't happen to
me..thank God!!" Actually, I had more stomach issues that
bothered me when I started taking them again (about 2 per day for a
few weeks). My weight has been pretty stable, I am 5'3
100-105. So, I dunno... so far I have no problems. I was worried
that not taking them may have contributed to my
"pre-diabetes", but my doc says "nope, that's not
the way it works". So, I dunno. Do you "feel it"
when you don't take them??

I get horrible stomach aches about two days later and then bad gas. It is not pleasant and always makes me think that I will never miss them again. But it varies from meal to meal

I have more frequent bowel movements and get horrible stomach cramping. The kind that could bring you to your knees.

I try very hard not to miss mine. I think I have only missed them on a few occassions when we went out to eat and I forgot to fill up my bottle in my purse. If I do miss, I get stomach cramps and will be visiting the restroom rather frequently. I even have stomach cramps now (while on the enzymes). Of course, it depends on what I'm eating. Lately, pizza has been giving me problems, although it never has in the past. Dairy products don't seem to bother me. If I'm eating something that is pretty greasy, I usually take an extra pill. Even so, sometimes I still end up in the bathroom a lot with greasy stools. I pretty much eat anything I want to, but sometimes I regret it. I used to take Pancreas pills, but they switched me several years ago to the Ultrase MT12. Since then, I have gained quit a few pounds (more than I would like). I'm 5' 2" and weight 136. I wouldn't even consider not taking my enzymes; otherwise, I would probably spend my life in the bathroom (lol).
