It was a mass... and just awful! I am NEVER going back. I con't even begain to tell you guys how bad it was.
Theres this old doctor who has dated info on CF and he likes to tell everyone that (He thinks I don't have CF) So I don't see him anymore. I told the ER doctor that I don't see him as a doctor anymore. I have a new CF team that is great with me and they have talked to the U CF center where I got all my tests for CF. And that yes I have CF!!! I have been Dx with it for 5 years!!! I had it at birth we all where born with CF just some won't Dx right alway.

Now I went into to ER becuase my CF doc told me to bacause I was having sharp chest pain and severe shortness of breath. So I did as I was told. so I get there and this ER doc came in and said to me I have read your chart and talked about IV meds for me at home. She had to go to a different room because there was a very sick old man who needed help.

Then a x-ray nurse comes in to take me down to x-ray. (now the ER doc never told me I was getting an x-ray) My other docs don't give me much x-rays becuase I have had them all my life and they don't want me to end up with affects of cancer from all the scans and x-ray and MRI's.

Then my mom left the ER and went home for a bit. So then the ER doc came in and said to me (we have a big issue.. and I bet you know just what I am talking about Sarah don't you I said no I have no clue what your talking about. Then she says I called all your doctors and they all told me that you do not have Cystic fibrosis.)
It's all in your mind Sarah says this sick ER doctor. My face turns red. the more red I get the more junk this ER doc says to me. She said to me after I started to cry do you need me to give you some shots of meds to calm you down. I was ready to jump up and punch her.

After that I calld my mom on her cell phone. I told her what the doc was doing to me. she said I will be right over. she told me don't let them do a thing to you it's your right.

The ER doc comes in again and says<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">all this junk about how this sick doctor who is not a CF doc think I don't have CF ) I turned to her and said I have the right to not want care till my mom comes. She looks at me and says well I have the right to do anything I want to you till your mom comes!! What a nut!!! We get home and my mom calls my CF docs and asks them if they heard from this ER. they said yes and all the ER doc said was we do not belive Sarah has CF. My CF docs said nothing and hung up to the ER.

First of all my CF docs would never never say I don't have CF. They have done tests and I have lung damage. D** I'm mad!!! what is wrong with people!

Now next time that I need to be seen I an going to the doctor NOT the any ER. they just don't get it!! They never will get it!! Then if I need to be put into the hopital I will have my CF center do that. But I am never going a an ER again. I will die then but I never will go to ER!!

I would call the CF Foundation's Legal Helpline and see if they have any suggestions for you to help you get the proper care. It sounds like you're not being treated by a CFF accredited care center. Is there one in your area? You have a right to the best care available. This sort of out-of-touch thinking on behalf of doctors is just pathetic.

You might even write to your congressman or other representative authority and describe this incident as you plead with them to fund more CF research. That's what I'd do. Maybe you don't have the interest or energy for that. Tomorrow starts National Cystic Fibrosis Awareness month. Would you mind if I describe what happened to you in some of the writing I do to increase awareness? Situations like yours are EXACTLY why there needs to be more awareness.

Those doc's sound psychotic. They can do what they want til your mom comes. Real professional. And I LOVE that bedside manner you fools.

Trent and I had a rotten ER visti last summer. He was severly dehydrated and was having muscle cramps and throwing up. I drove him to the ER and the doctor there tried to send him by ambulance to a different hospital that is 4 hours away, it happened to be his CF clinic. But the doctor had no idea that Trent had CF and when he looked at the xray of his lungs he got scared and wanted to send him to the "bigger" hospital. Trent tried to tell the DR that the xray was the best looking one he had in years. Eventually after a few hours of fighting with the DR he had Trent check out of the ER AMA. The next day the CF doc called and told Trent that his xray looked good!! I think the doctor just wanted to "learn" about CF because he admitted that he had never seen a patient with it before!
