The social worker, yes you will see one whether you think you need one or not, will ask you about your support system. Usually, they will want to meet and speak with the person that will be your main support person(s) during the actual transplant process,(surgery, hospitalization, post tx care for approx.3 mo.).
They should send you a packet telling you about the evaluation covering all the tests you will do, who you will be meeting with, what and who you need/should bring with you, and a schedule of appointments.
My advice and I am sure everyone else will agree, is to write down any and all questions that pop up between now and your appointment. Keep one single notebook with these questions. I actually asked each question directly from my notes and had left a few lines between each question to jot down the answers. If you don't write them down, you will forget. Ask, no matter how silly or insignificant it may seem.
