Excersise and weight

Hey everyone. I posted this in the excersise board too, but I figured more people would see it here. I'm looking for tips on working out to get into shape without loosing weight. I don't really work out at all and I'd like to tone some muscle. I tried taking a yoga class one time, but the instructor told me I was being "disruptive" because all the breathing exercises made me cough a lot. Thanks.

so aerobic exercise will definatly burn off weight, so i would look more at weight training type things which should tone u up. but youll hav to eat more calories either way.

disruptive? sometimes people make me wanna flip. did u tell them u have cf?

I agree with tom, weight training is your best exercise to do to gain weight.
Ive just started weight training with a personal trainer, and loving it, because your lifting weights your not physically running around of doing impact classes with can make you cough more or lose more weight etc
just take it slow and build on your repetitions and add extra weight slowly, if you can afford a personal trainer that way you learn to lift the right way and not risk injury, and they will cater the routine to suit what you need....
after all muscle ultimately weights more....

I started working out a little while ago not only with the goal of building up my muscle tone, but ultimately improving my PFT's. Like you, I do not want to lose any weight either! But I wouldn't skip out on cardio all together because that's what's going to improve your lung function! I noticed a huge difference in my coughing and breathing after only ONE WEEK! For me, cardio is way more beneficial to my lung than chest PT! And increasing your calories is a must...try to get as much protein as you can! Good luck!
