Exercising in Winter while Pregnant

Hi,

I was just wondering what all you pregnant women do for exercise. I normally play organized sports (soccer and softball) pretty much year-round. I had to slow down a bit last year due to us having an infant. I got a babysitter most of the time so that I could still play in my games.

Now that I'm pregnant, I am not able to play soccer or softball because they are both too strenuous and I'm too tired to even think about going out to exercise right now. I like to walk with my son in the stroller, but since it's winter that won't be happening for a few more months.

Any ideas on what I can do for light exercise while I'm pregnant? It's also more complicated because I have a little one at home. Because of my spouse's and my work schedule, we are only home together for a few hours per week, making it impossible for me to exercise without having my son with me.

Maybe I'm just in a winter rut right now. But I just want to make sure I stay healthy and keep my lungs as clear as possible during pregnancy.

Thanks!

When I took prenatal yoga at the YMCA, a mom had her toddler asleep in his stroller while she took class. Whenever he woke up she left.

for me walking is not enough for my lungs. I must go to the gym. while I was pregnant I went to two aerobics classes in the evening until 37 weeks. I was exausted but I went anyway. I always "found" the energy once the music kicked on and I started moving. My lung function actually increased during pregnancy. I can only imagine what cf shape I'd be if I hadn't worked out so much. Please keep working while pregnant especially since you were active before. Your body and your baby need you too.

Since having Isaac I haven't been as good about working out. I go 2-3x per week but since my lungs aren't in as good a shape I should be going 5-7 days a week. I hope that after I dc bf'ing that my evening energy returns. He goes to bed at 7 so I should go to the gym after that but it just seems like so much with an hour and a half of lung care on top.

In the meantime while I haven't been having the evening energy I have decided to go during lunchtime. I leave work and go workout. It's not easy but once you get into the groove you won't want to stop. I promise. Just commit to a schedule for 2 weeks and you won't look back.

Great ideas!
I think I will look into some types of activities that involve my 11-month-old. I am already doing swimming 1x/week with him, so that's a start. I also heard from someone that there's a baby gymnastics class at the Y near us, so maybe that will give me a slight workout. The other thing I realized I can do is walk on my lunch break at work (once it gets a few degrees warmer). I got tons of good ideas now!
Thanks!
