Doctor's aren't going to give you a pulse oximeter. Believe me, I have asked. The ones they use cost over 300 dollars and they will be in big trouble if they give them to you. You can find them online for around $100. I am going to buy one myself this week.</end quote></div>

that's bogus. i got one through my insurance and i know other CFers from both my clinic and others that have gotten them as well.

Yea, that does sound bogus...though you have to clarify that you don't need one that does data logging, those are the 300$ ones! There are many out there that just use a simple program routine along with infra-red and ultra-violet LED's to monitor the blood's O2 levels...according to the technology, you gotta have a heartbeat in order to have your O2 levels measured....lol!

Not true. I know lots of people who have them- perscribed by their doctors and paid for by insurance. Why would the doctor get in trouble? it sounds like your clinic has some issues if that's the case.

My doctor was the one who suggested it to me, and at my last appointment offered to write me a script for a nicer one. I'm suprised at how useful it is.

thanks for all the info. i really gotta do something. i'm pretty sure that my lack of exercise these past couple of years is a big part of the reason my FEV1 has decreased so much and i've put on 20 lbs.
