Exploding soda

So apparently if you drop a Mento in soda, the soda bubbles like crazy. If you drop it into a 2 liter bottle of soda, it will shoot about 10 feet in the air. Hahaha! Supposedly Diet Coke and peppermint Mentos are the best. I just saw this on Mythbusters. I wanna try it!

My husband is being a poop, he won't let me do it. I think he just doesn't want a bottle of Diet Coke to die, its his favorite. This would be a cool experiment for a young kid though. Its a little messy but totally safe.

its definatly something fun to do, but do it outside. the reason they say to use diet drinks is because its sweetened with aspertame and isn't sticky, you don't have to use diet coke mythbusters just has a contract with coke, you can use diet dr pepper or anything diet for that matter, you can use not diet drinks too but it will get you sticky.

My husband "teated" us to a diet coke and mentos display this summer while we were camping. It really was fun to watch. Of course, none of us had seen teh episode, so we had no idea what he was doing when he pulled a 2 litre of diet out of the truck...But it was fun. Definately not an inside thing, though. Messy!
