Extraordinary Expenses

I can't seem to find the comment about the dog (it's probably right in front of my face somewhere)... but just wanted to point out: Unless you have allergies as well, there is no reason with CF not to own a dog (except maybe expense).

And I don't know if this fits into your "go without" topic... but in many states, smoking is still legal in various places, kind of banning us from going there. Here, at least the casinos are still smoky. Additionally, many concert halls (the "rowdier" ones) have no smoking rules but don't follow them worth crap. I went to a concert after the law passed in Massachusetts, but you could see the smoke in the place. I was gunked up for a week after that.

It was buried in all the other things I listed -- basically that because our CF clinic is about 250 miles away, we usually have to board our dog for one or two days = added expense.

Ooooohhhh okay, that makes more sense then. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> No friends nearby that can take care of the dog(s)? Kennels are way overpriced. When we go on vacation, we get one of my friends or Mike's younger brother to watch them for us. Heh.

None of our friends or relatives are really dog people. Our previous dog had diabetes and trying to find someone who'd not only be willing to check on our dog, but give him a shot of insulin twice a day was asking a bit much.

If we're gone overnight -- our dog goes to the kennel. All our dogs have LOVED going there and we know they're well cared for, so we don't have to worry about it. If we're gone for the day or until late at night -- holidays, graduation.. We have a "pet nanny" who stops by to let the dog out and feed him and with our diabetic dog -- they'd give him a shot, too.
