Falling asleep during TOBI

Hello, everyone. Does anyone else have a problem with falling asleep while trying to breathe TOBI? Lately, I have. I don't think it has anything to do with the medication; at least, I've never heard of anything like that. What is probably going on is I'm just not getting enough sleep. I kind of have a few minor sleeping problems. Since I pretty much have to sit still and do something passive while I'm taking the medication, and that is pretty much the only time I'm really sitting still and doing anything passive, my body is probably saying, "Yay! Nap time!" =-) I guess it is possible the sound of the nebulizer could be begining to lull me to sleep, too. Anyway, i doubt it is anything serious. The neblulizer stays in my mouth the whole time, and as far as I know, I still breathe while I sleep, so i'm sure I'm still getting the medication. =-) I have tried prety much everything to stay awake; watching tv, reading a book, writing... there isn't much I can do when i'm hooked to a machine, you know? And i don't want to go to the extreme of standing the whole time. Well, like I said, probably nothing serious, I was just wondering if anyone else does this. =-)Jarod22 with cf

I've done it with my Pulmozyme before. I solved the majority of that problem when I went on sleeping pills a few years ago. I now get to bed at 12 or 1 instead of 5 or 6. Maybe try looking into a solution for your sleeping problems?

I used to do that too, not while doing treatments necessarily, but anytime I would sit in one place for any amt of time, I would fall asleep-- pretty embarassing at the movie theatre, not to mention a waste of money=)I think you hit the nail on the head, not enough sleep, so when your body finally does relax, you fall asleep.I do my treatments while on the internet, unless you're typing, you just need one hand to navigate the mouse. I've been known to type often while holding the nebulizer in between my teeth too. I'm sure many, many others here do that too. Maybe try surfing the net while doing your treatments?

I try to psuedo meditate while I'm doing nebs. It's SO easy to get sleepy, especially if it's the only time you're really sitting still. I relax my body and get comfy, usually sit in the lotus position, and think while breathing deeply. It takes some work not to just drift and get tired, but I like it because it's a time when I can be really mindful about my body and what's going on with it. Debbie23 w/ CF
