My boyfriend just got a port about 2 Friday's ago. He is very excited to have it and says that it makes life easier. He's VERY happy not to do PICCs anymore.
He said that the first couple of days after he got the port he was pretty sore, but keeping some pain reliever around helped. He was out during the procedure to get his port, so it didn't hurt when they put it in.
Anyway, I just wanted to give you a positive report from someone (he's sitting beside me instructing me what to say <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> ) who just got a port.

i imagined it would be sore for a few days because i know when i had my g-tube in it hurt for a while.
i just need some advice on getting a port because im a bit squeemish and i hate needles.
