As some of you already know I have started FAM to track my cycles to get prepared to conceive afer my hubby gets a genetic panel done.
He has a dr appt to get set up for the panel next Tues. I will keep you posted about the results to his test. Like I have said before we have decied not to conceive if he is a carrier. So my fingers are crossed!!

I just finished my first cycle with the Fam. My first cycle was 35 days and I ovulated on day 20. My luteal phase was 14 days. So so far so good. I am still charting and am on my period now. So we'll see what my next cycle is like. I am so excited to be learning all of this.

My hubby is getting into this too. He asks, " did you take your temp today?" and when are suppose to start you period? Its cute that he is getting involved!

So far this has been a great experience!

I just went to Fertility Friend and put my charting info in and it says that I did not ovulate last month. So I guess I am reading my temps wrong.

It says that my cycle was 34 days and no ovulation detected. I guess I was confused about what the luteal phase actually is. I thought it was the days after ovulation up to the start of your period. But according to Fertility Friend you have to have at least three consecutive rises in temp.

I only had one day and then my temp fell. So I guess I am still having probs from stopping the b/c. It sounds like my progestrone levels are still messed up. This month I am sure will be diff. This will be the second month after I stopped b/c. So we'll see what happens.

Congrats!! I think it's great that you are "watching" your cycle before trying to get pregnant. I think your success rate will be much higher. Although there are so many things at play that we really can never feel in control. I would track at least 3-4 months and then when you think you have an idea of when the ovulation happens get an ovulation predictor kit to confirm. For me I didn't want to get into buying the kits too early because of cost and I was worried it would disappoint me to see a negative.

Khristina. There are two phases to the ovarian cycle (there also the uterine cycle).
the first phase is the follicular phase - from the beginning of the cycle until ovulation, when the pituitary sends the message to the ovaries to develop follicles toward ovulation - each follicle holds an egg; follicles secrete estrogen.
the second phase is the luteal phase - from ovulation until the next period. In the luteal phase the egg has been released from the follicle which now secretes progesterone in addition to some estrogen.
great work with the charting - so fascinating to see how it all works.
