Hey all! I've been keeping a secret: I'm pregnant! I'll be 16 weeks on Tuesday. I've known since the 1st day of my missed period back in January, but waited to announce to anyone until the past few weeks. We weren't "trying" so I was really surprised (pleasantly). We were gonna start trying next month in April.
I feel so blessed. I have wanted to be a mom ever since I knew what a mom was. This forum has helped me immensely & gave me hope & courage to even think about becoming a mom one day. I lurk here a ton & post sometimes, so many of you may not know me.
I am 30, married 3 1/2 years & worked as a ICU nurse for 7 years until i quit in Sept of 2006. That was a rough time for my health & I just needed to take a break from work (I was the manager at the time) and focus on my health. I was planning on going back in Jan, until I got the positive pregnancy test (YAY!)
My health is pretty stable due to working at it! (As we all know). In Jan my PFT's were 78%. At 8 weeks pregnant I got the flu HORRIBLY! High fevers, major congestion, so i did a 3 week IV of Ceftzadime. My PFT's went back up. I just had an appt on Thursday & my FEV1 is down a little at 74%. I run 5 miles every other day, & have slowed down now to 4 miles at a slower pace. So far so good-I hope I can exercise as long as possible!
I am due Sep 17th. I know I will have a ton on ?'s for all you moms. Once again, I cannot thank you all enough for coming to this website to share your experiences. It has been incredibly helpful.
I am of course really nervous, but I am having a positive attitude & hoping for the best. This is one of the most exciting yet scariest moments of my life.
I plan on sharing my experiences as well to help all the future "mom to be's" that come to this site. I never imagined this could happen & my husband & I are elated!
