I need assistance because I cant remember that far back LOL! I think Jazmine might be starting the early stages of puberty. It started with her sweat & requiring deodorant (phew lol).

Then the last 2 days she has complained about the area around her nipples hurting. More so the left side, but definitely in both. No sign of any hair growth tho.

**sighs** So since I dont exactly remember how my body felt as it started puberty I am not 100% sure. The only thing I remember is realizing I needed a bra of some sort as some point and of course when I actually got my period.

I looked things up on the internet and it sounds like it. Jazz wasnt impressed with this idea, but I told her the internet says it could take up to 5 years before she actually gets her period.

I did tell her that at least she understand when I say "be careful my boobs hurt this month" she understands.

I realize ever girl is different, but I am not ready for this. I havent told her Dad yet and I told Jazmine we can not tell Nonni (my Mom) because she couldnt handle the pressure LOL! It was hard enough on her when I went through it.

So those who have a more recent experience.....could you give some feedback?!

You are so cute! No really you remind me of my mom. However I was like 16 when I actually start my period and we were excited b/c we thought I'd never get it. I think its great that yall can talk about it. I think maybe now would be the time for yall to go get her first training bra. I know that me and my mom went and it was a special experience for me. Don't be scared, try and make it pleasant for her!

Hey Melissa-

No recent experience here either lol. I'm the same age as you. However, I do remember when I started having the tenderness. I was in 3rd or 4th grade. I started having periods at 11, so that's pretty early I think. I'm not sure how old Jazmine is, but it sure sounds like the start of puberty.

I don't think we're ever ready for them to grow up are we? I know what you mean about telling dad. They take it hard when their little girls turn into young women. I bet he loads the shot gun as soon as he finds out. lol

Hopefully you will get some of the younger girls' opinions. Did you post in the teen section? lol - just a thought.

My little sister started the first stages of puberty about a year ago. She is about to be 15 not so sure were she stands now. I haven't seen her since the beginning of June but I know she was starting to get hair. But since my mom wouldn't talk to her about anything at all I just told her she didn't have to be embarassed to ask me any questions at all. So she asks questions when I get to talk to her and I answer openly and honestly, I feel this is the best way to handle it. Cause my mom was the same way with me. I am 24 and I never got a talk about any of the stuff that happens to your body.

However, I have harder time with my little brother. he is 16 and asks me all the time when he is going to go through puberty. My mom told me a while ago that their dad didn't go through it until about 17. But he gets all bummed cause he doesn't have any hair on his face or legs or in the nether regions and maybe its cause I am a girl but sometimes when he talks to me I have no idea what to say to make him feel better. But I try my best. My mom isn't there for either of them for this thing so I do my best to help them and talk to them. Good luck, I can't imagine its easy for anyone.
