I'm wondering if anybody has experienced similar to what I'm getting at the moment.

I came off two weeks of IV Ceftazadime and Meropenem a week ago today and have noticed that over the last week i have been getting a mucusy vaginal discharge with a little blood in it - I've also been a bit bloated in the tummy and today I am experiencing quite a bit of abdomen pain - and loads of gas........poo for me, they really really smell awful!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I'm concerned as I have never had this bloody discharge before and missed my last pap smear (no lectures please I usually get them but skipped one a few months back just because I was busy!!!) me being a worry-wart i'm thinking cervical cancer, ovarian cancer......

Can anybody shed any light on this for me and it's possible causes or put my mind at rest a litte...and yes yes I will go and have my smear on Monday!!!!

Thanks in advance
Kat

Well what it most likely is, and i'm no doctor so don't take my word for it, but it may have messed ur menstral cycle up a bit - which is not at all uncommon when people take meds of any sorts, especially IV's. You're probably going to get your period sooner too, and if you've put weight on that can account for the higher secretion of discharge. Regardless, it's best to consult your physician! Hope these are of some comfort!

Hey,
IV meds always mess up my cycle for at least a month, maybe 2. Just sounds to me like you're having a quasi-period. But if things seem really abnormal for you, definately get it checked out.

Good Luck!

My cycle also gets messed up when I am on almost any kind of abx...sometimes even oral ones. I was on oral abx (in early Dec) and then IV's (in beginning of Jan) just a few months ago...and my cycle was out of wack for a few months. Yours wil probably get back on track soon. Hope you feel better and good luck at your appt.

It is probably nothing, but go to the doctor.
Pap smear is a good thing, but some of your symptoms call for an internal ultrasound.

My sister had ovarian cancer, the silent cancer and she had some of those symptoms. She had just been to the OB/GYN, had a pap and everything is dandy. But little did we know, there was a mass growing inside of her. Only an internal ultrasound will detect it. There is a also a blood test that sometimes can help show any problems.

Don't hesitate. Please see the doc
