Any of the PFT functions can be over 100%.
Yes as someone mentioned, PFT numbers are based on age, height, sex, weight, race and then compared to others in that same "bracket".
Well as in all of life, some people are below average, others are average, and others are above average.
Someone with CF of course over time most ofen goes well below average. Most doctors will start talking lung transplant with their patient at about 30% FEV1, so that the patient can get use to the idea, think about it, start researching etc. You don't decide over night you want new lungs.
My sister after getting new lungs had a new FEV1 of 208%!!!!! Obviously her lungs were either bigger, more capacity that someone of her same stature would blow.
