Fever Question

I also am one of those whose temp is on the low side. Generally speaking, anything between 99.5 and 100.5 is a "low grade fever".

Even though CFers are prone to infections, we don't always have the symptom of a fever. This is especially true for people who have poor circulation or low blood pressure (mine for example is around 88/56, so I'm always cold) or for people whose O2 sats are lower.

In any given day, the body's temperature can fluctuate between 97 and 102--and that's without illness or fever. Just ask the gals who are trying to get preggers and I'm sure they can tell you all the amazing ways the body temp changes at certain times of the day, week month.

Guys' temps are more stable than the gals, but they tend to be overall higher. This phenomenon is particularly noticeable to married couples. The husbands tend to prefer only a sheet for coverage, while the wives want to be all tucked in with an extra blanket.

That's probably more info than you were looking for, but I thought you'd find it interesting and useful nonetheless.

Stay "cool" everyone!

my temp has never been low. I usually run 98.6 - 99.5 as a normal range. I consider anything over 99.5 is low grade, 100.6 is considered a fever.

I would think you definitely need to know what your "baseline" is. Mine is pretty much around 98.6. My fevers tend to "feel" the same at low grade or majorly high so I can tell if I am getting a fever now before I even take my temp. Usually once it reaches 99!

Melissa I'm the same as you. As soon as I hit 99.0 I feel it, and it feels like it is 105.0. I can not tolerate them at all. It is nice to know that I am not the only one.

My usual temperture mid-day is 99.2 F. If I'm excited, it might be slightly higher. I start off around 97.2 F. My highest fever ever was 106.7 F due to a viral infection. Nothing helped. I was in the hospital on IV's and Advil around the clock. I don't remember anything else from that admission. Most of the time, I was barely conscious (sp?).
