FINAL VERDICT IN ON MY ABNORMAL CERVICAL MUCUS!!!

Yes, my husband was tested and deemed VERY FERTILE...

We had discussed the possibility of him getting tested not too long ago, and to my surprise, he was tested a couple of years ago. Let me explain...

He is from Uruguay, S.A. When he was 16-years-old, he was drafted to join the Uruguay military. The military there makes them get a full physical upon entry, which includes a sperm analysis. He passed with flying colors.

I did share this information with the GYN doctor, and she didn't really urge about retesting him based on that information. He has/is offering to get retested without a hitch, but I'm not sure that I really want to pursue that path... We both agreed to turn to adoption before infertility doctors. The only reason I got tested for the bacterial infection was because I wanted to make sure that nothing was "wrong". And yes, infertility had a part in it, but it wasn't like this was for infertility only.

I still am thinking of taking a few months to put my thoughts together and then push forward with something... Jake just got a HUGE job promotion on Monday, and his parents will be visiting in a few months from Uruguay. After that, I intend to push forward... In the meantime, I do intend to increase my intake of water since I surely don't drink enough and increase my dose of Mucinex. If it works, great, but I won't count on it. I'm going to just try and relax about everything and wait out a few months... I guess it's a plan of some sort.

CF women don't have the 98% sterility rate that men do, but there is still a higher percentage rate of failures with CF women than with regular women. That's just how it is. Our... fluids are thicker and more likely to stop the sperm in its tracks, or kill it altogether.

I'm not criticizing. I'm really sorry this isn't working for you. I was pretty upset when I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago. But the reality is, this may never happen for you "naturally." I'm not suggesting you stop trying, or stop going to doctors. Just realize, you may be stuck.

I'm sorry the results are not quite what you expected. I'm hoping that when you are able to maybe relax and not take it so serious, just maybe something big will happen when you least expect it!! Sometimes it just takes longer. Don't give up!

You have every reason to be emotional. As someone once told me "CF didn't read the book." CF doesn't know you're doing everything right to conceive. I hope that you will feel peaceful and calm again soon.

Perhaps your body is telling you that this may not be a reality for you.

Im so sorry to hear that you had to deal with this. I went thru the exact same thing. I was where you are now 3 years ago. I know what its like to feel that disapointment. I am just going to throw out there what I decided to do and what my doctors told me to do. They told me that due to teh Cf and all the extra muscus that I didnt have much of a chance of convicing on my own, it was slim. So they suggested that I do and IUI. Which is where you go to a fertility clinic, they use your husbands sperm and they use a suringe and insert it up into your uterus. That way it passes up most of the musucs that you have in your canal and then the sperm dont have to fight thru the mucus. Its pretty inexpensive compared to things like IVF. Its about $300 a time. They told me all the mucus in my canal was making it near impossible for the sperm to swim thru it. So this way just cut most of the swimming out and puts the sperm right where they need to be

Alisha,

Not to be nosey, but did you go through with it???

I am sure that that would be what a fertility doctor would suggest if I ever decided to go to one....
