We received a bit of encouraging news yesterday. I had my yearly "routine" chest X-ray the other day and it shows considerable improvement over the one I had there 3 years ago. My Brasfield score was 16 then and now is 19, it showed that my atelectasis and pleural thickening has actually improved. Anyway....just thought I would share.

Do any of your clinics routinely "score" your x-rays using this system? If so was your score?

The Brasfield score was developed by Dr Dana Brasfield in Birmingham Alabama- she was my sons dr from diagnosis till about 2 yrs ago- she at that time gave up her CF patients to cut back. She is an awesome dr and we still miss her!!!

Wow good for you luke!

Is there anything different you've been doing that you would attribute it to?

It's always great news to hear someone improving!

Thats great to hear Luke.

I've never heard of them scoring Mark's x rays, but now that we are going back to a CF clinic after about 5 years-I will inquire about it.

Christian,

The strange thing about the X ray is that over that same time period we have be struggling on keep up my PFT's. As far as the xray....I guess that I really put alot of energy into exercise. I now go to the gym 6 times a week, lift 3 times, run 3 times. Another factor is my wife, we have been married for a year and 1/2 and she does my CPT for me(before that I rarely got it done). I take almost every "anti-inflammation" drug I can(IE zithromax, motrin, minocycline) and really focus on airway clearance now. That is it I guess......
